ISOTHANE Proud To Support Energy Action Scotland

Isothane Ltd, market leaders in Insulation for Hard To Treat Homes, are proud to announce their support for Energy Action Scotland (EAS), the national charity working to end Fuel Poverty and to achieve warm, dry homes for all.

Around 800,000 households – almost 1 in 3 – in Scotland are estimated to be in fuel poverty, which means they are unable to afford adequate warmth in the home. In turn, it is now estimated that there are some 5 million fuel poor households in the UK.

EAS believes that improving the energy efficiency of Scotland’s housing stock is the most sustainable solution to fuel poverty. By reducing the need for energy to power and heat homes to an acceptable living standard, householders will be less exposed to the problems caused by rising energy prices or drops in income.

It is estimated that 50% of people living in fuel poverty are living in Hard To Treat Homes, so if the Statutory Duty to eradicate fuel poverty by 2016 is to be achieved, then EAS believe that all homes including those which are Hard To Treat need to be ‘fuel poverty proof’ i.e. as energy efficient as possible, with access to a choice of domestic fuels and tariffs, and with disposable household income maximised.

It is vital therefore to come up with a cost effective solution to insulating Hard To Treat Homes as one of the ways to eradicate fuel poverty, and Isothane are committed to working with EAS to evaluate a number of cost-effective ways to improve energy efficiency.

Mervyn Kirk (Market Development Manager, Isothane Limited) attending the Energy Action Scotland Annual Conference said “We are delighted to be able to work with EAS and to assist them in the challenge of eradicating fuel poverty by 2016.”
