UK FLOOD BARRIERS Showcases Its Approach To Sustainable, Passive Flood Defence Systems

As the UKs leading provider of flood protection products, UK Flood Barriers has assumed a prominent position in the development of sustainable flood defence systems. Our flagship products from the Self Closing Barrier range will take centre stage at the upcoming Greenbuild Expo in Manchester these are passive systems and use the power of the rising floodwater itself to automatically deploy.

The Self Closing Flood Barrier (SCFB) range is extremely versatile with barriers small enough to protect a doorway, and wide enough to protect any flood vulnerable or flood critical infrastructure or community. In its most dynamic form, it can span any width and be installed across any terrain.

A major innovation on all our SCFB solutions includes the optional addition of a telemetry system, which can be linked to any communication medium advising stakeholders of the imminent deployment of a barrier. Wherever you are in the world, you can be confident that your vital assets are being protected.

Our passive automated systems require no power source to operate and are set to become the 21st Century solution to sustainable flood defence, revolutionising the construction sector in its approach to flood mitigation and helping developers to build the solution to the problem of flooding in at the planning stage.

By working in partnership with a firm of architects, we have been able to assist in gaining planning permission to build a development on a grade A flood plain using a reverse engineering solution for the SCFB.

The effects of flooding and managing flood risk costs the UK around 2.2 billion each year and as the effects of climate change increases, the frequency and intensity of rainfall episodes rises in line. We are the only company in the UK able to offer permanent and sustainable solutions to the problem of protecting individual buildings and communities meeting sustainability standards in the construction industry.
