TIMBERPLAY - Playing Down On The Farm….

Innovative play design and equipment from Sheffield based Timberplay have caught the eye of Cannon Hall Farm in Barnsley who are investing £300,000 in a new and improved adventure playground.

The first phase of this new development will be complete by spring 2011, ready for the busy tourist season at the Farm attraction.

Cannon Hall Farm already have some excellent play facilities, but are bolstering these with a new multi-play unit that incorporates climbing nets, huge pyramid towers and 2 large tunnel slides (one of which is 15 metres long). Linked together with a system of tunnels and bridges this new addition seeks to significantly enhance the play value within the site.

Alongside this Cannon Hall Farm are also investing in a new bespoke climbing feature – a Climbing Forest that has been designed to exploit the sloping landscape and existing trees. This bespoke combination has been designed to create a synergy between the land form and the mature trees upon it, providing a more challenging play opportunity for children visiting the farm - it will test their balance, co-ordination, dexterity, confidence and agility. As well as these significant investments Cannon Hall Farm have also purchased some stand alone elements, two nest swings and a new take on the see-saw known as the Jackstraw see saws.

Over the years Cannon Hall Farm have invested millions to ensure that they remain one of the best Farm attractions in the country. Their longevity is testimony to their success, and the memories they leave with families who come back year upon year. Investment in the outdoor play area is a key part of the overall offering for this family attraction, with something to keep all ages busy for the whole day.

Commenting Farm Manager, Robert Nicholson says; “In the last two years we have seen visitor numbers increase and we are really keen to maintain and build upon this momentum. To do this we are constantly reviewing what we offer to families that come along to the Farm, combining a great day out with good value for money. Further investment in our play area and all our facilities are important factors for us ensuring we get this balance right. The equipment from Timberplay is well made and hard wearing whilst at the same time being innovative and fun, I’m confident that visitors will be wowed by the new designs and we will remain a number one destination for families.”
