LODGICO Solves Equation For Landkey Primary School

Lodgico, the official agents for Honka log homes from Finland, have been approached by Landkey Primary School to design and build a purpose built sustainable ICT suite.

The Lodgico team of experts carried out detailed surveys of the site near Barnstaple in North Devon, enabling them to advise the school on the positioning of the unit as well as the overall design. The suite needs to hold facilities for up to 30 children, allowing whole classes to be taught at the same time.

Landkey Primary currently has an ICT suite situated within the main school building that accommodates a maximum of 6 children. Lodgico have proposed a ‘log cabin’ effect building utilising their own building system that will be highly insulated to keep running costs as low as possible.

The log building will be designed to utilise timber in as much of the build as possible to ensure that a sustainable solution can be delivered as well as a light and airy atmosphere for the children to work in.

Lodgico, who design their own range of bespoke timber buildings, have designed a custom-built log structure which will be timber framed and finished with horizontal timber cladding. A single storey timber framed building, measuring 12m x 5.7m externally, with an internal floor area of 58m2. A 1.8m wide non-slip timber access ramp will run across the front of the building.

The building will contain a single room, with built in workstations. Window and door frames will be woodgrain effect UPVC. The roof will be finished with non-asbestos slate and it is proposed to include a polycarbonate canopy over the access ramp.

Lodgico have designed log buildings for several schools throughout the UK. Their 'one stop shop' service is unrivalled, from building design, though planning, building control, construction and even furnishing log homes, Lodgico can help you through every step of the process.

Their unique range of log homes can be adapted to suit almost any application. Having supplied local councils with Children’s Centres, nursery buildings for schools, new build residential properties, holiday lodges and even a home for Capuchin monkeys at Monkey World! The flexibility of design of all their log homes ensures they can meet any customer’s needs and work within budget constraints.
