FORBO’S New Allura – Luxury Vinyl Tiles With A Difference

Forbo Flooring System’s international design team has developed an architecturally inspiring Luxury Vinyl Tile (LVT) collection – the all new Allura – which sets itself apart from anything else in the market place by combining design excellence with European manufacturing quality and impressive environmental credentials.

The new Allura signifies a step change in terms of design and application when it comes to current LVT offerings; each design within the collection is entirely unique having been created from scratch, whilst the introduction of digital printing allows for dramatic and vivid effects. The ranges themselves span three wear layer versions (0.7/0.55 mm heterogeneous and 2.5 mm homogenous), providing specifiers with an opportunity to mix and match according to differing performance requirements.

The high end design collection comprises woods, stones, ceramics and abstracts. The former features Authentic and Traditional wood effects that portray the natural beauty and warmth of favourites such as oaks and pines, whilst the addition of Abstract wood designs, some that include a characteristic metal highlight, sees the collection take on a much more contemporary and stylish feel. Designs such as Seagrass Timber, Soft Tiger Wood and Exotic Snakewood have been created to take centre stage in projects.

Within the Stone range, there is plenty on offer with natural stone, concrete, slate, and metal designs. Oxidised and aged iron oblong tiles are introduced with a classic urban twist, whilst ‘A Range of Shades’ tiles, with sophisticated tone-on-tone hues, provide a subtle character to larger spaces.

The Stone range highlight is Ceramics, where new production technology has achieved a terrazzo style effect. These tiles are ideally suited for retail locations, as the product’s size and structure lends itself to large scale applications in heavier traffic areas, and will heighten the overall design aesthetic, whilst reducing installation cost and maintenance.

These chic interpretations of natural materials incorporate an individual surface texture, which reflects the print design and gives the collection an authentic yet wholly distinctive look. In addition, stripping can be used in combination with planks and/or tiles to create a realistic effect.

A particularly innovative addition to the collection is the Abstract range. The Metal Mesh and Woven designs, use a metallic palette to achieve a modern look with textural qualities. The introduction of digital printing (which also incidentally features in the abstract wood collection) is where the Abstract range really sets itself apart. Line’s and Uni’s are creations made possible by six colour, four metre wide designs printed at 600 dpi for pin sharp vivid effects.

“This new product offering pushes the boundaries of design. The diversity of the collection means that there is every possibility to deliver new and exclusive design propositions – especially when combined with Forbo’s other modular products such as Flex Design loose lay tiles or Tessera/Westbond carpet tiles,” comments Julie Dempster, Marketing Manager at Forbo Flooring Systems.

“Forbo’s highly experienced in-house design team also offer a floor plan design service, allowing the creation of integrated design flooring features from entrances right through the building.”

New Allura is also differentiated through technical performance. Made using a dimensionally stable glassfleece interlayer to avoid shrinkage and allow larger, more realistic designs Allura also has a tough calendared wearlayer and flexible PUR finish.

Manufacture of Allura LVT is now at one of Forbo’s European production sites, and as a result specifiers can rest assured that the collection meets the highest European standards and is REACH (Registration Evaluation Authority and Restriction of Chemicals) compliant. BRE A/A+ rated and stocked in Europe, shorter delivery times and competitive pricing can also be achieved.

The entire Allura LVT collection can be viewed at Forbo’s London Showroom in Clerkenwell EC1, along with the rest of Forbo’s integrated product portfolio.
